First Crossroads & Mosaic Ministry Team Meeting

We had originally planned to gather for a group dinner at the Arp house this evening, but Texas weather had other ideas. So, we decided to switch gears and host a Zoom meeting instead, allowing us to continue the conversation and have more time together, even if virtually. Of course, a Zoom call will never fully replicate the experience of being there in person, so the meeting began a bit stiff and hesitant. To start things off, everyone introduced themselves, sharing their name, how long they've been serving in their church community, and where they specifically serve.

Tyler & Stephen took a moment to share the vision of initiating leadership discussions around a potential merge or replant. He made it clear, though, that no decisions had been made yet as they were still seeking wisdom and direction from the Spirit. The meeting served as an opportunity for questions and discussions on what could be possible moving forward. There were some questions about why not just begin holding joint services now, but most of the leaders felt that approach wasn’t the right move for several reasons—namely, that it could give the impression a decision has already been made, the logistical challenges of planning, and the concern over frequently changing worship times.

What stood out to me during the meeting was the way the pastor shared his heart about this possibility. The leaders from the other church asked thoughtful questions, diving into the challenges of such a decision. This was really encouraging to me because I don’t want to skirt around the tough conversations if this is truly where the Lord is leading us. This was the time for open, honest, and vulnerable discussions.

It was a good beginning for all of us to work as a unified body of believers for the good of the Kingdom. Even if we didn’t merge or replant, this journey continues to strengthen and sharpen our leaders. —Jessica Cogsdil
